A weekend of sun and yard work

Just a weekend full of sun and unusually warm weather on the last weekend in April. It was a beautiful weekend, reaching to about 80 degrees, no clouds, a slight breeze, and all the tree's blooming finally.

The girls were able to get into their bathing suits and run through the water all day Saturday. We went to the opening of the Saturday market on the greenbelt, girls got their favorite cotton candy and a little bread. Remember you can click on any of the photos to get the full enlarged version.

We spent most of both days doing yard work. We were busy building a couple of flower planter boxes for the two girls. We also painted the birdhouse and attached it to the kids club house in the backyard. Of course, everything is pink...

The girls went to the store to pick out 3 of their own flowers to plant, plus some veggies for the garden we dug out today. We got 4 different types of sun flowers this year. Tomorrow night it's off to Shelly to get some river rock on the Snake.

We bought 4 more rose bushes for the front yard, I believe we're up to 8 rose plants in the front now. Amber planted some pink flowers around the 4 trees up front.

We'll be getting two more trees for the front yard and one for the side of the house, probably in a few weeks. Other then that, nothing much. Here are a few pictures of the weekend.

Just another weekend

Didn't really do much this weekend except yard work and ride the bikes to the zoo. Mia took her first long bike ride without training wheels up to the park and zoo. It was overcast most of the weekend with exception to Saturday morning that started out like a nice clear blue-skied Spring day... then the sprinkles came. Here's a few photos and videos of the girls this weekend.

Weekend after Easter

Just a nice mellow weekend. We really didn't do anything since we were so busy last week with all the Easter stuff and egg hunts going on. After work Friday we drove out past Osgood to see Unc, Jessica, and Steve. They were fishing on the Snake and we took the guns and poles out to the river in pure hillbilly fashion.

We saw a beaver and quite a few geese and ducks. The girls brought their new binoculars and were checking out the 3 bald eagles hanging out in the area. One of them being just as big as the kids. The dogs had fun and we ate pizza till just before sunset.

Frank went with Graycie on Friday to school for Donuts with Daddy. It was the same as last year, 100's of dads lined up with their kids waiting to eat crusty donuts. We sat with her friend, our neighbors while we chatted and ate and ate and ate. In a few weeks Amber will be doing the same, going to eat breakfast with Graycie at school. But, that is called "muffins with mommy".

Did mostly yard work on Saturday, the weather was great! Frank was able to get on the Snake with Dave to do a short float. We launched from Dave's backyard, put the kayaks in the River and took off. It was the first float of the year and I found I had two small holes I could hear hissing... as we were already floating down.

I briefly thought mid evil thoughts about the cats back home, I'm sure the holes were due to them. We got off on an island to chill out and have a little safety meeting, had to patch the holes with some crusty duck tape.

Sunday is pretty gloomy weather. About 55 outside, a little breeze and a lot chillier than yesterday's 70 degrees. We BBQ'd some nice steaks and chilled the rest of the night. Olivia has turned into quite the hunting. We've started letting her outside the last few weeks and she's brought us two birds so far!

Easter Weekend

We had a busy weekend with the girls and Easter. Saturday we went to Ucon to visit Steve and Christie and take the kids to the Ucon Easter egg hunt. Tons of people and very well organized. Think we BBQ'd some Rib Eyes and shrimp that night. The weather was great until Easter morning where it turned breezy, chilly, and some rain here and there... not much though. Amber and I put on our head lamps and hid eggs outside Saturday night in the backyard.

The girls had a blast finding the eggs in the backyard, of course fighting off and on :) Then we went to breakfast with Teresa and Joe, Seth and Jessica and our family. After that we were off to Steve and Christies to take the girls back to Ucon for their annual easter egg hunt. Of course we all had a great time. They do such a great job of making sure all the kids have so much fun.

Got back and just chilled out. We got some Sushi and ate dinner and relaxed, played and goofed off until the girls bed time. After that, we watched a little Battlestar Galactica and fell asleep...

Ucon Easter Egg Hunt

We went up to the Steve and Christies in Ucon for the Ucon Easter egg hunt. Beautiful day, it started at 1000 hours. We walked down to the school from Steve's and there were clear blue skies. There must have been a 1000 kids at the school. But everyone was lined up and very nicely organized. It was similar to herding cattle. Or, as in the Navy... nut to butt! Only the veterans will get that one :)

The girls had a blast, all of them filling their Easter egg baskets with candy, sugar and more sh*t they really don't need to be eating. I think Mia has been eating candy behind our back all day. She has been getting sneaky at that. But, she has also been doing great asking us before she eats.

A nice weather weekend

A nice weekend and week of weather we've had. Its reached 70 a few days this week and the girls were able to get out and play outside, all day...till dark. The turtle was out and about in the front yard, we made a fence for it so it won't get away. The kids enjoy picking dandelions for the turtle, her favorite food.

Graycie was able to use her new Rollerblades. She loves them and is really getting good on them in such a short time. We had to tell her no more rollerblading for a few days because she had them on so much the last few days that her legs are swore.

The wind was blowing pretty good for a couple days and the kids wanted to get out the kite. We walked down to the school and were able to get the kites pretty high in the sky. The girls walked down with their neighbor friends Gretta and Mandy. Both girls did great and Pinot had a blast chasing them around.
